Energy Efficiency
The most effective thing a homeowner can do to slow climate change is making his or her home more energy efficient. The goal of a “Net Zero” house is now attainable with the combination of super insulation, passive solar gain, and photovoltaics.
For renovation, we offer open and closed cell urethane foam insulation, and dense-pack cellulose. We install architecturally correct replacement windows from Andersen and Marvin. We have installed many “Warm Roofs”, where spray foam insulation is installed in conjunction with a re-roofing job. We also work with Wilder Plumbing to install high efficiency wood pellet, propane, and geothermal heating systems.
For new construction we offer 12” walls, high efficiency windows and doors, passive solar designs, and the highest efficiency heating systems on the market, with solar thermal and photovoltaic tie-ins available. We use the finest materials to produce a comfortable, low maintenance home that will last for generations with very low utility costs.

Wood vs. plastic: Many builders are turning to PVC trim and vinyl siding as a way to reduce costs and home maintenance. We try to avoid these products for environmental reasons even more than for aesthetics. The production of PVC is one of the most environmentally harmful processes in modern industry. Instead, we strive to install high-grade wood products in a manner that resists rot and deterioration.
